Get an Estimate or Appraisal NOW In order to give an accurate estimate or appraisal, we need to have a good understanding of the item's current condition. This tutorial gives examples of the photographs of your piece that we require. Please call us if you have any questions about what you should include for your piece. Front and Back. Photographs of the front and back of the piece in totality. Artist's Signature. Include a close photograph of the artist's signature if the work is signed. Detail to the Painting or Piece of Art. Include detail photographs of any and all damages to the piece that must be restored. For a work on paper, include detail photos of any stamps or adhered items (paper, tape, etc.) Painting Edge. If the item is a painting, include a detail shot of the painting edge where it wraps the stretcher, slightly from behind, as shown in the example here. If the item is a work on paper or photograph, include photos of any object to which the work is mounted. Raking Light. If the work is a painting, include a photo of the front in raking light. Direct a light from the side of the work and photograph it from the front. This will show the surface texture of the item as in the example here. For a work on paper, please include photos of both the front and back in raking light. Upload Image. Register as a member and upload your photos and request. |
